Morrell Quilt centre medallion and another finish

This is the centre medallion of the Morrell quilt. The fabrics that were chosen for the BOM all work really well together.
Square in a square pieced block. There are not many pieced blocks in this quilt. Hand piecing is where I am most comfortable, so this quilt is giving me lots of opportunities to learn.






I made this little needlecase last week. This one got the creative juices flowing and now I have ideas for several more. :)

    I too am like you in that I am most comfortable piecing, however your applique looks amazing. The blocks are coming along at a great rate.
    Love the wee needlecase, I love making them and collecting them, a sewer can never have too many :-)

    Your first block is amazing, just beautiful
    the second block did you hand piece it?
    I would piece it on the machine , maybe even paper piece it!
    I love needle cases thisone is so pretty
    Love the fabric you used on the front, gives it a nice antique feel / look to it.
    I never take the time to make them , I should
    what did you use for where the needles go, is that wool?
    I preordered the pattern and she told me it would be out in Sept!
    I won't start it till next year though I have enough going on right now hope to start the CWBride quilt today

    Love the blocks Miriam!! I've never made a needle case, I probably should as I'm always searching for that little packet of needles LOL.

    Wonderful blocks. Something about the second one I just love. Maybe it is the design or the fabric or the combination. Lovely!

    Oh Miriam...your center block is just wonderful!!! I would be happy to have it quilted and hanging on my wall...lol The square in a square block is very well done. You hand pieced that???? The needle case is terrific, so pretty...you've been busy haven't you?!

    Ooooohhhhh, I LOVE that center medallion! I've seen some pretty quilts with blocks like that and I'd love to try one someday!
