and some shopping.
It has been quite hot here the last few days, so I spent the afternoon at my sewing machine.
These are the next blocks for Blogger's Block of the Month. This month's block is by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter.
Now I have 6 blocks in each colourway.
I also finished my last 2 blocks for the Civil War Quilt.
I have been playing with arranging the blocks in several different ways, but I still haven't decided which way to go.
Recently I had a morning in the city and after seeing this shop referred to a couple of times I decided to take a look. What a treasure trove of goodies L'uccello is!!! I could have spent hours in there!
Here is what I came home with.
A lovely collection of wool felt, ribbon, thread and some Barbara Brackman fabric, all of which will be used for a needlebook....or three. :)
Does anyone remember this book???
This is my very well loved copy. I've had it since I was five years old. I can remember my Mother reading it to us at bed time. A year or so later a teacher read it to us at school. Later still I read it on my own...several times. :)
Weeeelll, look what I found at Spotlight yesterday.....:)
Aren't they cute!!!! They are going in to stash until there are Grand babies! :)
I LOVE your supplies for the needlebook! Such beautiful colors...I'm not sure we have that children's book in the U.S. but it is a lovely copy with a great cover...I think the fabric is terrific and so glad you snatched some up!!
ReplyDeleteYour blogger BOMs look terrific together. I need to make the newest one today.
ReplyDeleteyou have a lot of wonderful blocks - looking forward to seeing how you use them.

I love that you are doing a warm and a cool version of the BOM. Love the W Morris fabrics - they are so timeless. L'ucceloo's looks very dangerous! So fun to find childhood memories in fabric!
ReplyDeleteLove your BOM blocks...I think we all adore S & C...so your fabric is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYour Bom Blocks...look wonderful!! I like that you are doing to different quilts. Cool!! Hugs
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on your blocks.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your shopping Sanjou usually gets me in trouble - scissors...pins...wooden box...sigh...
I need to find the sitting babies, I think I could use it in the back of the conversational! Is there a style number?
Thanks for sharing!
I just checked the blog of L'uccellos. Gorgeous. Now I will have to go into town. Saw the Gumnut babies too but the DS fabric was too hard to go past.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea, making the blocks in two colour ways. Same quilt but a different look.
ReplyDeleteI have only been to L'uccello's once but I loved it and will definitely return.
it's so fun to see your two versions!
ReplyDeleteI like them both.
I don't know the childrens book, but I do love good childrens books.
